The Role

Our safety professionals represent one of the most important aspects of our company. The Project Safety Coordinator is responsible for cultivating a safety conscious culture on assigned projects including subcontractor compliance, they ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the potential hazards/risks and precautionary safety measures through proactive support, training, and mentoring. Safety professionals work hand-in-hand with the entire project team, subcontractors, and other parties located onsite to ensure enforcement and compliance in company safety policies and procedures and all federal, state and local safety rules and regulations. You must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in major projects preferably in the Oil & Gas, Semiconductors, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Power Generation industries.


  • Help lead the organization to a goal of zero workplace injuries and incidents
  • Ensure the uniform adherence to electrical product installation, start up and commissioning methods, providing coaching and direct assistance to resolve technical challenges and application issues
  • Assist with incident management aspects, including but not limited to: reporting, investigation, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Assist with identifying safety risks areas and developing short term and long term strategies to address them
  • Coordinate/Perform Annual Employee required safety training and additional training to meet local leaderships specific safety needs
  • Consult with leaders to assist with identifying and developing local safety initiatives.
  • Support and mentor construction project employees by having the ability to demonstrate how to perform the work safely
  • Support local leadership teams in implementing and reviewing customer safety requirements
  • Interface directly with government and customer groups.
  • Serve as a resource to the operations by staying relevant and informed on construction safety, industry and technical related topics.
  • Coordinate/assist with site monthly safety meetings, provide details of updates to safety program, changes, and develop safety topics
  • Support site safety contacts in maintaining and driving a culture of continuous improvement for safety
  • Perform construction project safety audits for local Eaton office, vehicle, and customer sites using the 5S platform to drive a safe work place environment
  • Spends time administering and developing construction safety protocols and best practice documents and procedures for Project Ops, Major Projects and Energy Solutions.
  • Spends time assisting in the creation of site specific safety plans and job hazard analysis, rigging plans, reviewing site specific safety plans and job hazard analysis, and auditing sites.
  • Spends time organizing, developing and executing of training programs relevant to internal safety compliance and relevant to external safety compliance with on-going contracts.
  • Spends time auditing jobsites for Safety Compliance
  • Act as liaison between National Operations, Major Project and the division safety team to ensure construction safety practices are uniform between the divisions.
  • Create best practice construction safety documents relevant to our delivery mechanisms.
  • Initiate and keep track of lessons learned for incorporation into the construction safety protocols and best practice documents.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required to ensure documents, procedures, and tools are kept current, efficient, and effective.
  • Coordinate with the EESS National Safety Council
  • Conduct training as required.
  • Monitor existing chemical plant operating units.

    • A valid state driver’s license – Preferred
    • Forklift, Clamp-truck- Fork-Truck Certified – Preferred
    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • OSHA 500 Hour Construction Safety and Health
    • Degree – Bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management – Preferred
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) – Required
    • Advanced knowledge of OSHA 1926 Regulations
    • Advanced knowledge of EM385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual or other equivalent customer safety guidelines
  • Computer proficiency: The candidate must have primary knowledge of:
    • Strong ability with simulation programs including;
      • Hysys, Flarenet, and ProMax, ChemCad
    • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Project, and Access
      • Ability to sort, categorize, and interpret data
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
      • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization.
      • Possesses the ability to work with and communicate with all levels of management to secure cooperation for performing maintenance, repairs, and alteration
    • Experience in managing a team would be advantageous
    • Demonstrated Industrial Construction experience
    • Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure and strict deadlines
    • Strong demonstrable communication style and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally with an open and inclusive style
    • A keen eye for the detail of specific tasks, combined with an understanding of how such specifics fit in with the project as a whole Organizational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks
    • Excellent time and cost management skills in order to plan and achieve delivery to the desired quality to exceed customer expectations
    • Competent numeracy and literacy skills
    • Leadership skills as well as the ability to work well within a team of other professionals
    • Ability to understand and interpret system boundaries and scoping against P&IDs and other engineering drawings
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
    • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
