Structural or Civil Designer

The Role

The primary responsibility will be to work in with and support the detailed design team. The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced structural design and have a Civil, Structural or ITE Drafting Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and construction of a variety of new and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
  • Production of drawings on AutoCAD/Revit for Structural
  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and schedules
  • Provide training and technical support on Building Information Modeling (BIM) projects using Autodesk REVIT
  • Coordinate structural modeling with multidiscipline project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals.
  • Create initial REVIT project setup with workflow documents
  • Responsibility for the structural team’s development of project models
  • Work with the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent results and incorporate new design into the existing facility models
  • Oversee daily model management, administration and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain structural CAD standards
  • Responsible for the quality of model production
  • Develop and mentor less experienced design staff
  • Present 30% 60% 90% model reviews to stakeholders and multi-discipline teams
  • Mentor team members

  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    • NA
  • EDUCATION:
    • Bachelors or Diploma in Civil, Structural Engineering or ITE drafting certificate
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) – Required
  • Previous Experience:
    • Minimum 3 Years
    • BIM ContentDevelopment: Families such as parametric, formula nested and type catalogs
    • Knowledgeable in different Project Delivery methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization.
    • Possesses the ability to work with and communicate with all levels of management to secure cooperation for performing maintenance, repairs, and alteration
  • Computer proficiency: Proficiency in 2D/3D software, such as Auto CAD, Revit, 3d Studio MAX, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and/or SketchUp
  • Experience working with vendors on content download and update to Company Standards
  • Experience supporting linked views and others in multiple models situation
  • Experience integrating REVIT products with other applications (Autodesk, Construction, Cost Estimation)
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • Working knowledge/certification of following;
    • Relevant Building Codes
  • C&S drafting for building or Industrial projects
  • Proficient in Revit Structural
  • Experience with Navisworks
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team
  • Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
