The Role

The Electrical Safety Inspector will provide safety support needed to help identify gaps in Electrical Safety Management Program. They will help implement safety controls associated with high risk energized electrical work hazards, including field permitting review/validation, process development of electrical work hazardous guidelines and in field safety observations. They will also review safety lock-out/tag-out procedure verification and personal protective equipment for associated electrical work scopes to help classify/prevent hazards related to electrocution, electric shock, burns or electrical fires. You will also be expected to consult on electrical safety issues and the use of standards including but not limited to OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E.

You must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role for major projects, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Semiconductors, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Power Generation industries.


  • Support company Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program.
  • Maintain Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety.
  • Act as company SME for electrical safety and NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols and concepts. Must have conducted Arc Flash Analysis (from conception to execution) and provided direct supervisory oversight of the project.
  • Have experience in Electrical Safety and knowledge of associated safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, ASTM). Exhibit excellent communication skills to be used in responding to electrical safety questions and performing program presentations.
  • Maintain the company’s electrical safety procedure(s) to maintain compliance with regulations including three year reviews.
  • Develop and maintain electrical safety training for basic and advanced qualified electrical workers.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of electrical equipment, installations and facilities to verify compliance with NFPA 70E.
  • Conduct electrical training as needed to maintain level of knowledge for electrical workers.
  • Act as Safety liaison for the Mechanical, Electrical and Controls (MEC) group.
  • Assist with Pre Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) as needed for major electrical projects.
  • Promote company “Safety through Design” efforts.
  • Conduct Lockout / Tag out reviews as requested for large projects.
  • Conduct Critical Safe Work Practices reviews.
  • Lead or assist with conducting general safety audits as needed.
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations as needed.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis’ (PHA’s) as needed to address electrical safety questions.
  • Provide professional development for Safety Team as needed.
  • Perform other assigned safety functions as required.
  • Coordinate with craft and planners in the generation and assembly of inspection packages
  • Working as part of a project team to provide deliverables and meet deadlines

    • FPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) or the ability to obtain within one year.
    • SME level knowledge in electrical safety and NFPA 70E.
    • A valid state driver’s license – Preferred
    • Forklift, Clamp-truck- Fork-Truck Certified – Preferred
    • Degree – Bachelor’s in Engineering or Construction Management – Preferred (PE)
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) – Required
    • High voltage electrical safety experience.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA General and Construction Industry standards.
  • Computer proficiency: The candidate must have primary knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Project, and Access
      • Ability to sort, categorize, and interpret data
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
      • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization.
      • Possesses the ability to work with and communicate with all levels of management to secure cooperation for performing maintenance, repairs, and alteration
    • Demonstrated Industrial Construction experience
    • Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure and strict deadlines
    • Strong demonstrable communication style and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally with an open and inclusive style
    • A keen eye for the detail of specific tasks, combined with an understanding of how such specifics fit in with the project as a whole Organizational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks
    • Excellent time and cost management skills in order to plan and achieve delivery to the desired quality to exceed customer expectations
    • Competent numeracy and literacy skills
    • Leadership skills as well as the ability to work well within a team of other professionals
    • Ability to understand and interpret system boundaries and scoping against P&IDs and other engineering drawings
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
